Jeg er historisk geograf, middelalderhistoriker og stednavneforsker. Mine primære forskningsområder er bebyggelses- og landskabshistorie i Danmark i perioden 700-1700 (med særlig fokus på stednavnenes relation til øvrige historisk-geografiske forhold), og kirke- og klosterhistorie i middelalderens Nordeuropa (med særlig fokus på Dominikanerordenen i Skandinavien). Som stednavneforsker arbejder jeg aktuelt med redigering af et bind i serien Danmarks Stednavne om Merløse herred i det gamle Holbæk amt.
