Research activity per year
Johan Tufte-Kristensen has been employed at the University of Copenhagen since September 2014. He has written a PhD thesis on the impartiality and independence of arbitrators. Today, he deals with private law, procedural law and private international law. His research concerns, inter alia, public policy defenses in international conventions, exorbitant territorial jurisdiction, the recognition and enforcement of settlement agreements and the application of mandatory domestic and supranational rules by courts.
In the upcoming semester, Johan will be teaching a mandatory course on the law of obligations. He has previously taught courses on torts, contracts and civil procedure. He provides supervision on master theses, project reports and bachelor theses within the areas of private and procedural law, and he is responsible for the faculty’s participation in the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
During his career at the faculty, Johan has been a visiting scholar at the University of Texas at Austin, and he has represented the Danish government in UNCITRAL’s Working Group II for a number of years. He carries out various other assignments. He is a member of The Danish Board of the Nordic Law Meetings and the board of Young Arbitrators Copenhagen, an association that seeks to enhance the interest in arbitration among young lawyers.

As a member of the faculty's Center for Enterprise Liability, Johan is part of a collective research project on private governance. He conducts research on various aspects of dispute resolution and private international law, including
