Short presentation

My main research interests are in the history of postwar American political and economic thought. In my dissertation, "Visions of Politics as Economics," I examined how and why mid-twentieth-century American economists addressed ideas about the state, democracy, bureaucracy, and the constitution that had hitherto been the purview of political philosophers and political scientists. My postdoc is part of the "Key Actors - Peopling the Neoliberal Economy" project, which examines how imaginary characters like the economist, the bureaucrat, the entrepreneur, the consumer, the investor, and the debtor have been articulated as role models of social behavior to legitimize the neoliberal economy.
