Most important academic contributions

My most important academic contributions is within the field of research into poverty, marginalization and social exclusion. Since 1985 I have been researching within this field and this is reflected both in my Danish and English publications, for example in my Phd thesis "Fattigdom i velfærdsstaten" (Poverty in the welfare state), Samfindslitteartur 1989, and in the book "Fattigdom, afsavn og coping" (Poverty, deprivation and coping), Hans Reitzels Forlag, 2015. Within this field of research I have in many of my publications also had a special focus on lone mothers and marginalized men; the relations between gender, class, poverty and social exclusion.

Most important contributions of research outside academia

In 1990, my PhD thesis "Fattigdom i velfærdsstaten" (Poverty in the welfare state) was awarded the Cultural Prize of The Federation of Trade Unions in Denmark (LO). I have often been interviewed by the Medias and according to InfoMedia (a database on appearence in all types of medias) I have during the last 5 years appeared 149 times in all type of medias. During the last 5 years I have also given key note speeeches on especially poverty at conferences held by NGO's, Trade Unions and government appointed councils and expert committees.
