Short presentation

Günes Ünüvar is a Carlsberg Foundation postdoctoral researcher at iCourts. His research interests include international economic policy-making, international investment law and dispute settlement, treaty interpretation and incremental adjudicatory trends in international economic law, with a particular focus on European Union's investment court system (ICS) proposals. He represents iCourts as an observer institution at the UNCITRAL Working Group III meetings on investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) reform meetings since 2018. A qualified lawyer (Ankara Bar), he obtained his LL.B. from Bilkent University in Turkey (2010), his LL.M. from the Institute of European Studies, Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium (2012); and his PhD from University of Copenhagen in 2016. He conducted visiting stays at Columbia Law School in New York and the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels.
