Short presentation

My current research is focused on multi-species interactions and fitness effects on the involved species. In field trials with Barbarea vulgaris, a wild plant species native to Eurasia, I study the influence of a herbivore, the flea beetle Phyllotreta nemorum and an oomycete pathogen, Albugo candida, on fitness of Barbarea vulgaris.

In nature, however, plants are not only subjected to a single herbivore or pathogen. A combination of several biotic and abiotic factors may select for certain traits in plant populations and result in locally adapted populations. In a transplant experiment I test for local adaptation and natural selection in wild populations of Barbarea vulgaris.
