Description

The aim of this course is to explore and engage with various questions connected with the interplay between religion and economy. It is important to stress that economy is to be understood in a wide sense. The main focus will be to what extent and how market configurations and market ideologies influence contemporary religious life, but a brief update on theories and case studies on how religious life may influence the economy will also be presented. The course will facilitate increased insights in these topics by having lectures by senior scholars presenting different perspectives on such questions, and second by having paper sessions where PhD students discuss these questions with each other and with senior scholars in relation to their theses.
