Description
On 21 and 22 September 2015, the European University Institute, in association with the University of Copenhagen and Harvard Law School’s Institute of Global Law and Policy, will host an invite-only expert seminar in Florence, Italy on state transformation, international law, and post-conflict transitional governance. Participants will come from both the academic and policy communities, as well as from the global South and North. Although the seminar will focus on international legal perspectives, we hope to integrate views from political science and international relations. We anticipate that the expert seminar will be the inaugural event of an ongoing project on the topic of international involvement with domestic interim governance in post-conflict states. The expert seminar is convened by Ebrahim Afsah (University of Copenhagen), Nehal Bhuta (EUI), Emmanuel De Groof (EUI), Zinaida Miller (Institute for Global Law and Policy, Harvard Law School), and Micha Wiebusch (SOAS/IOB). The initiative is jointly financed by the European University Institute, the University of Copenhagen, and Harvard Law School’s Institute for Global Law and Policy.
