FROM ORAL TRADITION TO RAP:   New lives - new stories: The first Sami and the first Greenlandic novel, a comparative analysis.

Activity: Talk or presentation typesLecture and oral contribution

Description

In 1912 Anders Larsen published the first Sami novel: Bæivve-Alggo (A new dawn). In 1914 Mathias Storch published the first Greenlandic novel Sinnattugaq (The Dream). Why did these two texts emerge almost simultaneously? How similar are the two texts? How similar were the two actor's backgrounds? What are the relations - if any - to the oral tradition?
