Abstract
On farm control of zoonoses, the principles for eradication of classical zoonoses, from food animals, is discussed. The directive offers flexibility in the choice of control methods, along with clearly defined control objectives. It, furthermore, requires harmonized monitoring of zoonotic pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in animals and food in member states. Some experiences with control of campylobacter are also discussed.
