N2 - Inferior dislocation of the shoulder (luxatio erecta) is a rare type of shoulder dislocation. In this short article we review a case of a 56-year-old man who sustained a subcoracoid inferior dislocation of the right shoulder after accidental axial loading of the right arm. Post-reduction magnetic resonance scan showed supraspinatus tendon rupture. Such type of shoulder dislocation is associated with significant complications (such as rotator cuff tears) and also late complications (including instability, chronic pain and reduced motion).
