Abstract
"It is truly remarkable that the 2011 IAITL Legal Conference in Nicosia, Cyprus is the 8th such meeting of the conference since the first event took place in Hamburg in May 2006. It is a reflection of its popularity that the conference has now grown to embrace four parallel streams covering not only the original themes of Legal, Security and Privacy Issues in IT Law and International Law and Trade but more recently two new conferences on International Public and Private Law. The papers in this volume then represent the contributions to all these fields and reflect the strong desire of their authors to expose their critical thinking to an international audience of academics, policy makers, judges and industry representatives and to debate the current issues. I congratulate the International Association of IT Lawyers for its steadfast commitment to the creation of an international community of participants keen to work together to promote research and policy development in such a lively forum."
