Abstract

A presentation of the gradual by Niels Jesperssøn giving music for the Lutheran church services in post-reformation Denmark. A main focus of the article is on the king's preface and Niels Jesperssøn's preface, highlighting the basic musico-liturgical attitude in the Danish Lutheran Church at the time.
