N2 - Today’s EU is an important element of the international political framework. Shedding light on the EU’s adaptation to changing political and market conditions has been the key ambition of this volume and its team of contributors. Through its actions the EU has been trying to shape the market and is itself shaped by market forces. Due to the size of its economy and the lack of indigenous energy resources, the EU’s energy needs can be met only by imports of energy from the global energy market. In turn, the EU must adapt to changing parameters of the international political framework and to changes in the regional and global energy market.
