Kort præsentation

Svend Christensen er uddannet agronom (1988) og Ph.d. (1993) fra Den Kgl. Veterinærhøjskole. Han har som forsker været koordinator for mere end 10 store forskningsprojekter, før han i 2001 blev forskningsdirektør for Afdeling for Jordbrugsteknik, Danmarks JordbrugsForskning. Svend Christensen har været professor og institutleder ved Institut for Plante- og Miljøvidenskab på Københavns Universitet siden 2008.

Primære forskningsområder

Forskningen koncentrer sig om følgende hovedområder:

• Dyrkningspraksis med fokus på konkurrence imellem afgrøder og ukrudtsplanter.
• Modellering af afgrøde vækst og udbytte
• Ukrudtbiologi og -bekæmpelse
• Præcisionslandbrug og teknologiudvikling

Netværk og Medlemskaber

Svend Christensen er formand for arbejdsgruppen Site Specific Weed Management i European Weed Research Society (EWRS), hvor han også er medlem af den videnskabelige komite. Han koordiner det Nordiske Plant Phenotyping Nteværk (NPPN) og er med i redaktionsgruppen for tidsskriftet Journal of Precision Agriculture. Derudover var han gennem en årrække medlem af Det Frie Forskningsråd for Teknologi og Produktion.
