I am a molecular and evolutionary biologist with international experience. I have applied a range of different molecular tools to study the evolutionary and demographic history for a range of marine and salmonid fish species and used this information to develop new molecular based management tools.
The application of molecular data is continuously being integrated into new fields of science where such techniques have not been part of the standard tool box only few years ago. Looking forward, I am interested in exploiting molecular tools to make aquaculture more sustainable by pioneering a greener production regime that utilizes state of the art biotechnology such as metagenome sequencing to help boost healthy microbiomes in fish and other production animals.
