I am a public health professional with 7+ years of experience in infectious and non-communicable diseases research and programs. For the past 2 years, I am leading the Diabetes Prevention and Management by Lay Health Workers in Nepal Project funded by World Diabetes Foundation, Denmark. I have previously worked for the World Health Organization, Family Planning Association of Nepal, and UNAIDS Collaborating Centre for socio-epidemiological HIV Research, Japan.
I hold a PhD in Public Health from Aarhus University, Denmark. My PhD study investigated the effectiveness of lifestyle intervention delivered by lay health workers (female community health volunters) on the reduction of blood glucose level among individuals with type 2 diabetes in Nepal. My substantive research works have been on diabetes, hypertension, mental health and substance abuse disorders in a low-resource setting. I have a special interest in developing my research career focused on identifying and developing innovative and cost-effective strategies in the management of diabetes in low resource settings.
I am currently involved in conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and analyzing rigorous community-based quantitative observational and experimental studies (cluster-randomized trials), systematic reviews and meta-analysis as well as qualitative studies focusing on non-communicable diseases.
