I graduated in biology from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2013 and I received my MSc in neurosciences from the Vrije University Amsterdam in 2015. In January 2016 I joined Konstantin Khodosevich’s group at BRIC, where I started working on my PhD project.
The goals of my research are to unravel the signaling pathways that drive development of cortical interneurons and to understand which factors determine the correct functioning and connectivity of this type of neurons at a mature stage. This information is crucial to understand the events that trigger severe neurodevelopmental disorders such as schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorders, and epilepsy, in which abnormal development and/or function of interneurons is believed to play a major role.
