Kort præsentation

My primary research interests are peacemaking, peacebuilding and human rights, foreign policy and diplomatic practice.

I work on two major themes: The first is the on-the-ground development of Protection of Civilians policy in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, on forms of statecraft in conflict zones and of diplomatic practice as negotiation of policy, power and resistance. The second is the Nordic countries’ peace efforts and efforts to strengthen coordination of Nordic peace and reconciliation efforts globally, both through policy and research.

I am generally interested in linking academic thinking to practice. I am a member of and an operational partner to the initiative the Nordic Women Mediators and I am on the board of the NGO Conducive Space for Peace.

I am on leave from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where I have worked since 2009. I have mainly worked on and in security and conflict related settings, including as an advisor to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan and as head of the political section at the Danish Embassy to Nepal. Other areas I have worked on include Afghanistan, Somalia and the Horn of Africa, counter piracy, Danish stabilisation and whole-of-government strategy, the Danish Peace and Stabilisation Fund and the Dialogue for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding.

In 2018 and 2019 I have been a reviewer for the European Journal of International Security.

In 2018 I gave selected lectures in the Master’s level program: Core program on international relations and conflict resolution: https://polsci.ku.dk/uddannelser/kandidat/international_relations_and_conflict_resolution/

In the fall semester of 2017, I taught the graduate course: Peacebuilding: Theories, Methods and Culture. For more information, please see: http://kurser.ku.dk/course/ASTK15719U. I was also part of the teacher’s team for the master’s level program Specialization in IR, diplomacy and conflict studies.

My supervisor is Professor Ole Wæver.
