University of Oxford - Virtue and Dispositions in Plotinus (Invited Speaker)

Beskrivelse

The aim of the lecture is to present the role of disposition in Plotinus' virtue ethics. It focuses on the notions of virtue and hexis in the Enneads. It is suggested that virtue is a hexis that intellectualizes the soul not at the sphere of action but at rest from action.
