Beskrivelse
Johne's disease is now recognised as a common issue on Great Britain dairy farms. There is a growing pressure from both an economic and a cattle welfare point of view to manage the disease.NMR, in conjunction with MyHealthyHerd, organised 1 day courser to provide vets with the tools and confidence to approach Johne's in a logical and systematic way for their dairy clients.
Training was provided by Prof. Soren Nielsen (University of Copenhagen), Peter Orpin MRCVS (The Park Vet Group, Leics.) and Dick Sibley FRCVS (West Ridge Vets, Devon).
A veterinary understanding of Johne's and HerdWise is required for this ‘Level 2' course. Delegates could expect to leave the course with knowledge and understanding of the following:
Disease entry and spread
- Risk evaluation in infected and uninfected herds
- Evaluating the robustness of a control plan
New approaches in diagnosis and surveillance
- Understanding Johne's diagnosis
- Testing strategies to determine Johne's prevalence in the herd
- Looking at historical patterns in cow test data
Best practice for control options in dairy herds
- The benefits of Johne's control
- The associations of Johne's with other key performance indicators
- The full vet package - adding value to Johne's consultancy for farmers
