Beskrivelse

In modern discussions of computer ethics and cyber ethics informational self-determination is considered as an important condition of information privacy. However, scant attention has been paid on a virtue ethics approach of information privacy. Plotinus’ notion of self-determination is related to virtue ethics, human freedom and intellectual autonomy. His theory of self-determination is not an action-based moral claim or ability, but a self-centered virtue ethic prerequisite for the quality, unity and freedom of the self. It is suggested a Plotinian virtue ethics approach of self-determination can enlighten our discussions of the problem of information privacy in computer ethics and cyber ethics.
