Beskrivelse

The paper is a discussion on how saga place-names may help nuance our knowledge of Scandinavian settlement in the Hebrides and in the Irish Sea, if we juxtapose and compare them to surviving place-names of Scandinavian origin. The paper will specifically concentrate on establishing whether or not it is possible to say anything about the incoming Scandinavians' attitudes towards the native populations and their languages.
