Music Criticism and Taste Cultures

Morten Michelsen

Abstract

Music criticism has profoundly influenced musical practice as well as how various publics have understood and related to various kinds of music. This chapter explores that relationship, situating the practice of music criticism both historically and within the contexts of music journalism and the music press more broadly.
