Abstract
The well known thesis of professor Mogens Müller, that the Septuagint and not the Biblia Hebraica is the "First Bible of the Church", and that the Old Testament is relevant from a Christian viewpoint only by way of its reception in the New Testament, is evaluated from a historical, text critical and hermeneutical and dogmatic pespective. It is concluded that while the LXX as well as the BH are indispensible sources to the nature of the first Christian Bible, a primacy cannot be claimed for the LXX, nor can we restrict the total potential meaning of the Old Testament in a Christian context to the reception by the New Testament authors of certain passages.
