Abstract
At the University of Michigan in the city of Kalamazoo Cistercian Studies plays its important role. During the last 45 years Cistercian Studies Conference has taken place annually in May as part of the larger Medieval Congress taking place at the same campus. The first part of the article is describing life at the conference in May 2009.
Second part of the article describes how the author, a female lutheran pastor, experienced the way of life of the monks in a cistercian-trappist monastery in Northern California, Vina. The author and her colleague, Aage Rydstrøm-Poulsen, were welcomed by the abbott to come and give lectures after having left the conference i Kalamazoo in 2009. It was a great experience to be recommended to everyone!
