Abstract
The objective of this article was to review current recommendations about the optimal timing of suture removal for percutaneous, non-absorbable sutures in surgical incisions and traumatic wounds. A review of relevant literature showed that the recommendations for timing of suture removal varied in the interval 3-14 days. Influencing factors associated with the timing of suture removal included the location of the wound, co-morbidity and signs of early wound complications.
