Abstract
Abstract: Pedestrian space design is the significant part of the urban public spaces with closed relationship of people’s life. The quality of pedestrian space will affect not only the psychological feel and behavior intention while people walk on them, but also influence the qualities of both urban public spaces and public life. Danish well-know architect and urban designer Jan Gehl has engaged in the research on that, according to the human-oriented principle, from both sides of psychological effects and physical environment for long period of time, and found and provided some theories and guidelines for walking street design, and gained some attractive achievements. His theory will be benefited for the urban walking street design and construction in China.
