Artistic Research as a means to critically translate perceptions of transnational adoption

  • Jane Jin Kaisen (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentation typesLecture and oral contribution

Description

In her presentation, “Artistic research as a means to critically translate perceptions of transnational adoption”, Kaisen will talk about her involvement in different artistic collectives that have contributed to the growing critical discourse on transnational adoption. She will also share excerpts from three art projects, Tracing Trades (2006), The Woman, The Orphan, and The Tiger (2010), and Loving Belinda (2006-2015) that - from a feminist, postcolonial and post-structural perspective - critically translate and destabilize official narratives and perceptions of transnational adoption in South Korea and Denmark, the countries that have sent and received the most children through transnational adoption per capita in the world.
